Notes

  • Sonqori is spoken in northern Iran in Sonqor and the surrounding regions.
  • The position of Sonqori within the Oghuz family is unclear. On the one hand, it shares a number of morphological features with Azerbaijani. On the other, it exhibits certain phonological and lexical features not found in Azerbaijani but which are found in Southern Oghuz varieties.
