Likely PT *at; attested in the Orkhon inscriptions. Standard Chuvash has лаша, but Viryal Chuvash has ut, so it may be PT. Viryal form could be a loan from Tatar. Chuvash лаша has cognates in Crimean Tatar alaşa, Tatar алаша 'pack horse', Kazakh алаша 'camel', as well as Erzya and Moksha алаша and Russian лошадь. These forms appear to be areal and are not attested in other Uralic languages; origin unknown. OT *yïlqï appears to have referred to livestock, quadrupeds originally.
