Notes
- In the Khorazm region, two varieties are distinguished. In one, initial /y/ remains /y/, in the other, it changes to /ǰ/.
- Kipchak Uzbek is quite similar to Karakalpak and Kazakh. It may be the case that these varieties are considered distinct on the basis of ethnic identification, rather than on any major linguistic differences.
- So-called Uzbek varieties spoken in Afghanistan may be Kipchak as well. Further research is needed to determine whether these are distinct varieties or whether the same Kipchak Uzbek spoken in Uzbekistan is also spoken in Afghanistan.
- The forms in this database are from the variety spoken in Khorezm.
