saw (tool)

пила Säge scie اره хөрөө

CT *bïčgï, a derived form from the verb *bïč-. C.f. knife. The Chuvash form appears to have been borrowed from Tatar or a similar language.

Siberian languages have forms from Proto-Mongolic *kiröxe, see also Proto-Tungusic *xirəgə "file". It is unclear why rounding was lost in Turkic.

Many langauges have forms based on Persian, including Turkish testere, from Persian dast-arre "hand-saw".
