Forms like torɣay are from PT *torgay "lark". C.f. Tungusic *turākī "crow, rook" and Mongolic *turaɣu "crow, raven" (Piispanen, m.s.).

Siberian languages generally have forms like kuškaš, which is likely a diminutive form of kuš "bird.
